My name is Jillian Gendal. I have been a dancer since the time I could walk. I always loved to dance but became completely hooked after my first recital. I loved being on stage, in the spotlight, doing what I love most: dancing. I progressed to becoming a member of my dance studio's competition team which enabled me to perform on stage thorough the year, at community events, before judges, and at the annual recital.

I recognize that the opportunity to perform is a privilege- not everyone has access to the resources and support needed to step onto a stage, especially kids with physical, emotional, and mental disabilities.

That understanding is what led me to create SPOTLIGHT for Dancing Dreams. Spotlight is an initiative dedicated to raising money and awareness for Dancing Dreams, a non-profit program based in New York City that ensures that every dancer, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to shine on stage. In addition to creating Spotlight, I volunteer backstage to help the dancers on their big day.

Spotlight works to support these performers by funding essential recital costs, including costumes. Programs like Dancing Dreams do not happen by chance. They require dedication, collaboration, and resources to thrive. Spotlight is my way of giving back, and I am committed to playing a role in sustaining and expanding these opportunities, ensuring that every dancer can experience the joy and confidence that comes with performing.
